Von Miller says a Super Bowl win with Dallas would feel distinct
Linebacker Von Miller, newly signed by the Dallas Cowboys, said his priority is helping the team capture its first championship in 30 years, noting the unique fan reaction a Dallas title would generate.
Von Miller officially joined the Dallas Cowboys this week and told reporters that his focus this season is on team success rather than personal statistics. He said he could still produce eight sacks, but his main objective is to help the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl in three decades.
The three-time champion, who earned a Super Bowl 50 MVP award with the Denver Broncos and later won with the Los Angeles Rams, said a victory in Dallas would feel different from his previous titles. > "It’s the Dallas Cowboys. When I won the Super Bowl in Denver, we had a million people out there. When we won with the Rams, it wasn’t as much. Hell, at that parade, we were stopping at red lights. We still won the Super Bowl, and it’s still dope, but it’s just a different feel from those two organizations. When I was with the Buffalo Bills, if we won the Super Bowl, it would be a holiday in Orchard Park, and a holiday in Buffalo. Everybody would remember that, and there would be statues for everybody. That’s just the type of organization they have and the type of fans that they have. The Dallas Cowboys fans are that same type of [diehard]. If we’re able to have a successful season and win a Super Bowl here, it’ll be a holiday in Dallas as well. . . . It would be crazy in Dallas. It’ll be a holiday."
Miller noted that the Cowboys have not reached the NFC Championship Game in the past 30 years, and a championship would generate significant excitement among the franchise’s widespread fan base. A third ring with a third team would also further enhance Miller’s Hall of Fame credentials.
