Chris Hansen Says He Preferred Denis Leary Over Robert Pattinson for A24 Film
Chris Hansen told a podcast that he had imagined Denis Leary playing him in A24's upcoming movie Primetime, and he questioned the studio's commercial motives.
Chris Hansen told host Annie Elise on the Serialously with Annie Elise podcast that he had once imagined Denis Leary portraying him in the upcoming A24 film Primetime, rather than the cast member announced by the studio. Hansen said he had discussed the idea years ago and felt Leary would suit the role depending on the character’s age.
He clarified that he had no involvement in the film’s production and that the studio approached his team a few months before the interview, offering him a consultative role that he did not accept. Hansen expressed skepticism about A24’s intentions, suggesting the company was using his name to boost the project's commercial prospects.
The film, directed by Lance Oppenheim, stars Robert Pattinson, Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers, Anna Faris and Creed Bratton, and is scheduled for release on September 25, 2026. Hansen said he will attend a private screening before providing a full assessment.
