Spider-Man: Brand New Day Sets Record as Fastest Film to Reach $800 Million Domestically

सारांश

Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the quickest movie to earn $800 million in the U.S., achieving the milestone in 19 days and surpassing the previous record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Sony and Marvel Studios' latest Spider-Man installment, Brand New Day, reached $800 million at the U.S. box office in just 19 days, according to Box Office Mojo data. The pace beats the former record set by 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which needed 23 days to hit the same mark. The film is the fourth domestic release to surpass $800 million, joining Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame and the earlier Spider-Man: No Way Home. It also marks the second $800 million achievement for actress Zendaya and the third for actor Tom Holland.

Industry sources project the movie's third Tuesday earnings at roughly $9 million, aligning with its current raw gross of about $4.5 million reported by Rentrak. After a $7.5 million Monday, the cumulative total stood at $794 million the day before the record was confirmed. The weekend ahead is expected to bring an estimated $35 million, representing a roughly 50% hold from the previous week.

For context, the only film to exceed $900 million domestically is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which did so in 50 days. The best fourth-weekend domestic gross belongs to American Sniper with $89.3 million, followed by Avatar at $50.3 million.
