Saber Interactive Updates Steam Page with AI Disclaimer After Writer Dispute

Saber Interactive has revised the Steam description for its Rideshare Simulator to disclose the use of artificial-intelligence tools in the title. The notice states that the main campaign’s story, characters and dialogue are created by human writers, while AI is employed for voice generation, some localisation, and optional passenger missions in the Free Ride mode. It also clarifies that the game’s radio stations feature a mix of human-made and AI-generated music, with AI tracks clearly labelled.

The clarification follows public comments from CEO Matt Karch about former writer Stella Sacco, who said she was removed from the project and replaced by ChatGPT. Karch responded that Sacco was “replaced by someone more talented and terminated for a variety of reasons a few months later” and said he would have been “happy to replace her with AI” in hindsight. He added that the company had already disclosed AI usage and would update the Steam page once the feature set was finalised.

Sacco later posted on BlueSky that Karch had “apologised unreservedly for the awful way he spoke about me in the press.” She acknowledged his apology but said she needed time to consider what a resolution might look like.

"We look at our use of AI in this particular game, which will be a lower priced title, as a plus for consumers," Karch told the podcast This Week In Videogames.

The new disclaimer aims to give players clear information about which parts of the game are AI-generated, addressing concerns raised by the writer’s allegations and the ensuing public debate.
