Ferrari's inaugural electric model Luce sells for $40 million at Monterey auction

Resumen

The one-off 2026 Ferrari Luce "Chassis 0" fetched $40 million at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction, with proceeds earmarked for the Ferrari Foundation’s educational programs.

Ferrari’s first fully electric vehicle, the 2026 Luce "Tailor Made" designated as "Chassis 0," was sold for $40 million at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction. The sale, conducted in California, will benefit educational initiatives run by the Ferrari Foundation, a nonprofit charity, and the buyer’s premium was waived.

The Luce represents the automaker’s entry into the electric-vehicle market and was built to U.S. specifications through Ferrari’s Tailor Made personalization program. Its exterior features a Madreperla semi-gloss paint that shifts from green to violet, while the interior uses Perla-colored Le Mans metallic leather from Swiss hides and Grigio Corvara trim instead of standard black. The car also includes bespoke wheels, custom brake calipers and special badging on an optical white background, with a plaque marking it as the first production chassis in the Luce program.

The winning bidder will not take immediate possession; the vehicle is expected to return to Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters after the auction, with final delivery slated for the first quarter of 2027. Any buyer outside the United States will be responsible for export, import and federalization requirements.
