Senator Ossoff Criticizes Trump Over Aide Natalie Harp During Rally
Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff accused President Donald Trump of neglecting his duties to travel with aide Natalie Harp while discussing the Iran conflict and the USS Abraham Lincoln deployment.
Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff used a rally on Sunday to question President Donald Trump’s focus on his aide Natalie Harp, saying the president prefers to travel with her rather than attend to his responsibilities. Ossoff made the remarks while speaking about the ongoing tension with Iran and the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.
"While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings. He golfs and trades stocks. He doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar," Ossoff said.
Harp, 35, serves as the president’s executive assistant and was among the staff members who accompanied Trump during a recent plane-swap prompted by a potential Iranian missile threat. White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino and Oval Office operations director Walt Nauta were also on the flight.
The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, described Harp as “one of the most loyal and hardest-working aides on President Trump’s team.” The administration did not provide additional comment.
Background information on Harp notes that she earned an MBA from Liberty University, survived stage-2 bone cancer, and worked as a television presenter for One America News Network before being appointed executive assistant in January 2025.
Political analysts noted that Ossoff’s comments mark a shift in how the aide’s role is being discussed publicly, with some Republicans sharing the criticism and others defending Harp’s duties as part of the president’s staff.
