CBS News anchor Matt Gutman faces sexual harassment lawsuit amid prior reporting errors

Resumen

Matt Gutman, a CBS News correspondent, has been sued by a former ABC News producer for alleged sexual harassment, while his past includes two suspensions at ABC for inaccurate reporting and policy violations.

Matt Gutman, a correspondent for CBS News, was sued on Friday by former ABC News field producer Samira Said, who alleges the anchor made inappropriate sexual remarks during assignments between 2021 and 2025. The complaint says Gutman initiated a discussion rating a female correspondent’s appearance and later made a sexualized comment suggesting Said had an after-hours date, both in the presence of coworkers.

Gutman has not commented on the lawsuit. The suit was filed in California state court and adds to a series of disciplinary actions Gutman faced while at ABC News. In January 2020, he incorrectly reported that all of Kobe Bryant’s children had died in a helicopter crash; ABC suspended him and required a correction and apology. In February 2021, he was suspended again after visiting a hospital without prior approval, violating the network’s COVID-19 policy.

"I deeply regret that my words did not make that clear," Gutman said in a statement after criticism of comments he made while covering a 2025 shooting incident.

The allegations and prior incidents are being reviewed by the networks, which have not provided further comment.
