Islam Makhachev made his first Octagon appearance of 2026 in the main event of UFC 330, defending the UFC welterweight championship against Ian Machado Garry at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Makhachev, who captured the 170-pound title from Jack Della Maddalena in November, entered the bout with an unbeaten streak dating back to October 2015 and was positioned to extend the longest winning run in UFC history with a victory.
Machado Garry, who has a 9-1 record in ten Octagon outings, came into the fight after securing unanimous decision wins over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad in 2025. The co-main event featured a strawweight title clash as Gillian Robertson challenged Mackenzie Dern, who was set to make her first defense after defeating Virna Jandiroba.
"Makhachev's consistency and skill set make him a formidable champion," said UFC analyst Brett Okamoto.
"Machado Garry has shown steady improvement and will test Makhachev's durability," added commentator Dre Waters.
