White House to Host Crypto Industry Meeting Amid Ongoing Price Volatility

Résumé

The White House will convene executives from major cryptocurrency firms and regulators next week, while Bitcoin has hovered around $60,000 after a 50% decline since October 2025.

Bitcoin has remained near $60,000 for the past six months after falling roughly 50% since October 2025. The price has been largely sideways, and market participants note a resistance zone between $67,000 and $70,000.

The White House is scheduled to hold a meeting with leaders from Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi, along with top regulators including CFTC Chair Michael Selig and SEC Chair Paul Atkins. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are also expected to attend, according to a Coindesk report citing anonymous sources.

President Donald Trump is reported to be present at the gathering, which Politico and Bloomberg have linked to the upcoming CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee meeting. The session follows the failure of the Clarity Act, a crypto market structure bill, to secure a Senate vote before the August recess. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has set a procedural vote for mid-September, potentially leading to a full floor vote.

Market analyst Linh Tran of XS.com said recent progress on the Clarity Act indicates Washington is moving toward clearer digital-asset regulations, though it is unlikely to immediately boost Bitcoin prices. Andreja Cobeljic, head of derivatives trading at Amina Bank, described the current Bitcoin outlook as more constructive than in recent months but noted that the Clarity Act’s chances of passage have fallen to about 20% on prediction markets, down from a peak of 80% earlier in the year.
