Slipknot Announces Immediate Separation from DJ Sid Wilson After Nearly Three Decades
The heavy-metal group Slipknot confirmed via Instagram that longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson is no longer associated with the band, ending a 28-year tenure.
Slipknot posted a statement on the official Instagram account for its Knotfest festival on Friday indicating that, effective immediately, the band will no longer be associated with DJ Sid Wilson. The announcement read, "Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors."
The decision follows earlier reports by media outlets that Wilson, 49, had been dismissed after nearly 30 years with the group. Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 as its ninth member, shortly before the release of the band's self-titled debut album in 1999, and remained a fixture through multiple tours and recordings.
Wilson has not publicly responded to the band's statement. The timing of the separation coincides with personal developments, including the recent end of his engagement to Kelly Osbourne, with whom he shares a three-year-old son. An insider familiar with the situation told a publication that Osbourne is seeking to avoid further drama, while Wilson reportedly has personal matters to address.
