Marvel Announces X-Men Reboot Cast at D23

Marvel Studios disclosed the main cast for its X-Men reboot at the D23 Expo on Friday. The film will feature Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver will appear as the antagonist Mr. Sinister, and the movie is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028.

Kevin Feige, Marvel’s president, introduced the cast, while Driver participated via a pre-recorded video.

"Kevin and I have been talking for years about me joining MCU," Driver said, adding that they had "found something perfect with characters I feel very deeply about."

Sink’s casting follows her recent appearance as Jean Grey in the Spider-Man film released last month. Connor, known for the series Heartstopper, and Weaving, noted for Ready or Not, were previously reported for the roles of Cyclops and Emma Frost respectively. Navarrette gained recognition from the series Obsesion, Boyd comes from Broadway where she led the production Juliet, and Abbott, a former Girls star, was recently nominated for a Tony Award for Death of a Salesman.

The project will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously directed Thunderbolts. The announcement marks the first confirmed X-Men lineup since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, addressing long-standing fan interest in integrating the franchise into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
