Google rolls out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 to Pixel devices

सारांश

Google has begun distributing the third beta of Android 17 QPR2 to a wide range of Pixel phones and tablets, introducing visual fixes and new call-forwarding fraud protections.

Google started a Friday rollout of Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 for Pixel smartphones and tablets, marking the largest update in the current development cycle. The build addresses visual corruption that could occur when opening the notification shade or Quick Settings, and resolves an issue where the Device Health and Support tool displayed inaccurate battery-capacity warnings.

The update also adds security hardening against call-forwarding fraud. The sendUssdRequest() API can no longer be used for call-forwarding codes with only the CALLPHONE permission, and attempts to do so will receive a USSDERRORNOTALLOWED response. Users who manually dial call-forwarding codes in the system dialer will see a new confirmation dialog before the command is executed. Non-call-forwarding USSD requests, such as mobile-money transactions, remain unaffected.

Developers whose apps rely on programmatic call forwarding are advised to handle the USSDERRORNOTALLOWED callback and consider using the ACTIONDIAL intent to let users confirm the action manually. Users can report any issues through the Android Beta Feedback app or the Android Beta community on Reddit. The beta is available for Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 series, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 9 series, Pixel 10 series and the Android Emulator.
