Google unveils Pixel 11 lineup with thinner design, new camera hardware and Tensor G6 chip

Google announced its Pixel 11 family, noting a slimmer camera module that makes the phones as thin as a typical case and a flatter overall profile. The Pro models receive anti-scratch displays, while the base version retains the standard screen. All four devices incorporate new camera sensor hardware, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold adds a ceramic display and a composite back that Google describes as "nearly impossible to crack" after bend-test trials.

The company said the Tensor G6 processor, though not built on a 2nm process, provides performance and image-processing gains and is expected to keep battery life steady despite the Pro models having smaller batteries than the previous generation. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s battery is about 5% smaller, contributing to a lighter chassis.

New software features include "Camera Looks" that let users adjust image processing for each shot, updated emoji designs, and App Handles on the Fold model. Google also introduced an "Extreme Charging Mode" that speeds up wired and wireless charging by allowing higher temperatures and limiting background tasks; all devices support Qi2 25W charging. NFC hardware has been relocated to the top of the phones to simplify "Tap to Share" and mobile payments.

The Pixel 11 series remains eSIM-only in the United States, except for the Fold, which also features a redesigned hinge but does not match the crease-reduction capabilities of competing foldables. Google confirmed that Messages support for the HiLight feature is forthcoming, though third-party developer support is not planned.
