San Francisco faced the Tennessee Titans in the first preseason game of the 2026 NFL season, giving depth players a chance to compete. Wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling recorded six receptions for 66 yards, including a 32-yard sideline catch, while quarterback Kurtis Rourke connected frequently with him before exiting with a rib injury. Jordan Watkins contributed as a return specialist, handling a kickoff that went out of bounds and making a fair-catch on a punt.
Punter Corliss Waitman, who was selected over rookie Jack Bouwmeester, delivered two long punts and a short one in the second half, earning praise from the coaching staff. Defensive tackle Gracen Halton performed well against the Titans’ offensive line, recording multiple stops against guard Peter Skoronski. Running back Sincere McCormick showed effective rushing against the second-string Titans defense.
Other notable performances included linebacker Nick Martin, who recorded several tackles, and undrafted defensive tackle James Thompson, whose pass-rush moves were highlighted.
The game also exposed areas for improvement. Defensive tackle Alfred Collins struggled early, and safety Marquese Sigle, despite receiving significant playing time, was unable to make a strong impact. Offensive tackles Brandon Parker and Austen Pleasants were noted as needing further development.
