Oklahoma Little League State Tournament Disqualified After Eligibility Violations

Court documents reveal that the Tulsa National Little League baseball team fielded an ineligible player, leading to its disqualification from the Oklahoma state tournament and raising questions about the participation of other teams.

A Oklahoma state Little League baseball tournament was called into question after court filings showed that the Tulsa National team fielded a player who did not meet eligibility requirements. The evidence, obtained by a sports reporting outlet, includes a copy of the tournament eligibility affidavit that lacked required signatures from the team’s player agent, manager Cole Abbott, and district administrator Mindy Abbott, which should have resulted in disqualification.

Further investigation found that Washington County, another participant, had not registered any players in the Little League (Major) Division and allegedly paid an entry fee to the Abbott family. The team also used a travel squad, the 11U Bartlesville Bombers, which competes in a higher-level division.

Little League officials confirmed that a player’s sister was listed as a 7-year-old in the Challenger Division, but her father later admitted she was actually 10 and had never participated in league activities, violating the under-8 open enrollment rule. Little League Vice President of Operations and International Tournament Director Dan Velte stated, "O.G.'s father confirmed to me directly on the evening of August 9, 2026 that the sibling is actually 10 years old, not age 7 as represented in the registration," and added that the misrepresentation required mandatory disqualification.

Tulsa National was officially disqualified on August 10 after the tournament committee verified the eligibility breach. Velte also noted that the team had initially claimed a “falling out” between parents and coaches, which he said was a false explanation intended to conceal the true eligibility issue.

In response, the parents of the disqualified player issued a statement blaming the Oklahoma and Southwest Regional Little League administrations. Separate statements from other Oklahoma Little League charters expressed concern, and a vote of no confidence was recorded against the district administrator.

The Tulsa National softball team had previously been removed from the Southwest Region Tournament for similar documentation deficiencies, despite reaching the semifinals of the Little League World Series in 2025.
