Former Nickelodeon star Christy Knowings dies at 46 after life support removal
Christy Knowings, known for her work on Nickelodeon's All That, died at 46 following an asthma attack that led to brain damage and the removal of life support.
Christy Knowings, who appeared on Nickelodeon's 1990s sketch comedy series All That, died on Tuesday, August 11, after her family decided to discontinue life support at a hospital in the Los Angeles area. The decision followed an asthma attack on August 7 that resulted in brain injury, according to reports citing family sources.
Knowings joined All That in 1997 after an earlier appearance on a short-lived Nickelodeon pilot. During her three-season tenure she played roles such as a dental assistant, the character Jessica in the recurring "Whateverrr!!!" sketches, and newscaster Brenda Stone, alongside cast members including Kel Mitchell, Kenan Thompson and Amanda Bynes. After the show, she made several appearances on Sesame Street between 2008 and 2011, often sharing the screen with her twin brother Chris Knowings.
Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced the death on Facebook, noting that the cause of death was not disclosed. Knowings is the second former All That cast member to die this year, following Kianna Underwood's fatal hit-and-run in January.
