Farage spends over £10,000 on digital ads in Clacton by-election

Resumen

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has invested more than £10,000 in Meta-platform advertisements targeting Clacton voters, emphasizing local issues and positioning himself against the political establishment.

Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, has allocated over £10,000 to paid advertisements on Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms ahead of the Clacton by-election. The digital campaign focuses on two themes: presenting Farage as a champion for local residents and portraying him as an outsider battling the political establishment.

The ads highlight concerns such as low-level crime, housing shortages, deteriorating infrastructure and veterans’ needs, and feature a local resident praising Farage’s work. One video, costing roughly £4,000-£4,500, runs for nearly five minutes and includes Farage’s statement that voters, not the political elite, should decide his fate.

“Rather than being judged by the political class and the mainstream media, I am going to let you, the voters in the Clacton constituency, make a decision. I want you to be my judge, not the political elite,” Farage said in the video.

The spending also covers smaller ads encouraging supporters to display “I’m with Nigel” garden signs and to return postal votes, as well as messages addressing questions about a £5 million donation from a cryptocurrency entrepreneur that is under parliamentary investigation.

Farage’s main opponent in the contest is Count Binface, a satirical candidate, while the major parties have not fielded candidates. The result is expected early Friday.
