Illinois ticket wins $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot

Résumé

A Powerball ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers, securing an estimated $1.04 billion prize, the largest jackpot of the year and the eighth-largest in the game’s history.

A Powerball ticket purchased in Illinois matched all six numbers drawn on Wednesday, resulting in an estimated $1.04 billion jackpot, the lottery organization said. The winning combination was 4, 26, 66, 67, 69 and the red Powerball 9.

The prize can be taken as an annuity paid over 29 years or as a lump-sum cash option of about $450.5 million, both amounts before taxes. The drawing marked the 44th consecutive draw since the previous jackpot was won on May 2.

The payout ranks as the largest Powerball jackpot so far this year and the eighth-largest in the game’s history. Last year saw two Powerball jackpots exceed $1 billion, including a $1.8 billion prize on Christmas Eve, the biggest U.S. lottery award ever. A $1.787 billion jackpot in September 2025 was the third-largest U.S. lottery prize.
