Trump Media sells API access to Truth Social posts to Wall Street firms for up to $100,000 a month

Resumen

Trump Media disclosed that high-frequency trading firms are paying $60,000-$100,000 monthly for an API delivering President Trump’s Truth Social posts seconds before they become public, prompting calls for regulatory review.

Trump Media and Technology Group said on its first earnings call that it has signed more than ten agreements, primarily with high-frequency trading companies, to provide an application programming interface that streams President Donald Trump’s Truth Social posts milliseconds ahead of public release. The firms are reportedly paying between $60,000 and $100,000 per month for the service, which they say gives them a trading advantage.

"We recognized a modest amount of revenue from these agreements today," interim CEO Kevin McGurn said during the analyst call. "We believe this can grow into a meaningful, durable contributor."

McGurn added that the company is discussing similar access with news outlets and artificial-intelligence providers.

Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff have asked federal regulators to examine whether the arrangement complies with securities law, describing it as a potential abuse of the presidential office. In a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission chair, they warned that early access for Wall Street firms could undermine confidence in market fairness.

Truth Social, launched in 2021 as a conservative alternative to mainstream platforms, reported 261,300 daily active users in July, a 40% year-over-year decline, according to data from Similarweb. By contrast, X (formerly Twitter) recorded about 123.5 million daily users in the same period. The platform generated $1.7 million in sales last quarter and posted a $238 million loss, far exceeding the $20 million loss reported a year earlier. The company has not yet posted a quarterly profit.
