Lions add quarterback Josh Dobbs after Bridgewater retirement
The Detroit Lions signed quarterback Josh Dobbs to serve as the backup to Jared Goff following Teddy Bridgewater's retirement, and placed defensive tackle Aidan Keanaaina on injured reserve.
Detroit announced on Monday that quarterback Josh Dobbs has joined the Lions, filling the backup role after veteran Teddy Bridgewater announced his retirement. Dobbs, who appeared in four games as a reserve for New England last season and previously started for the 49ers, Cardinals, Vikings and Titans, will serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind starter Jared Goff, with undrafted rookie Luke Altmyer listed as the third option.
In a related roster move, defensive tackle Aidan Keanaaina, who signed with Detroit after going undrafted earlier this year, was placed on injured reserve.
The signings come as the Lions look to solidify depth at quarterback and defensive line ahead of the upcoming season.
