Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy resumes practice after family shooting incident

Resumen

Eric Bieniemy returned to Kansas City Chiefs training camp on Monday, his first practice since his wife was shot and his son was arrested in connection with the incident.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniema y participated in his first training-camp practice on Monday at Missouri Western State University, the site of the team’s preseason camp. The practice marked his return after his wife, Mia Bieniema y, was shot at their Virginia home on July 26 and their 27-year-old son, Elijah Bieniema y, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and related offenses.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said, "It was good to have EB back, back in full. I don’t think he missed a snap he was out there. The primary thing is that Mia is stable, that she’s doing well."

Reid added that Bieniema y had stayed in contact with the coaching staff during his absence, even offering a running-back instruction to manager Brett Veach during a practice stream. "It was great to have him back out there. Everybody was glad to see him," Reid said.

Linebacker Nick Bolton expressed relief at Bieniema y’s return, noting the positive impact on the team’s competitiveness.

Elijah Bieniema y’s court appearances have been postponed pending a mental-health evaluation. Eric Bieniema y, who previously served as offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders and held coaching roles with UCLA and the Chicago Bears, rejoined the Chiefs earlier this year after a brief stint away.

The practice also saw participation from several players dealing with injuries, including wide receivers Rashee Rice and Cyrus Allen, defensive end Ashton Gillotte, cornerback L’Jarius Snead, linebacker Drue Tranquill, and guard Trey Smith.
