Powerball jackpot climbs to $905 million ahead of Monday draw
The Powerball prize pool reached an estimated $905 million, the eighth-largest in the game’s history, as the next drawing approaches on Monday.
The Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $905 million ahead of Monday night’s drawing, placing it among the eight biggest prizes ever recorded for the game. The pool grew after no ticket matched all six numbers in the Saturday drawing, which featured white balls 5, 9, 35, 54 and 63 and a red Powerball 7, with a Power Play multiplier of three.
The lottery estimates the cash option at $391.9 million. While the odds of winning any prize remain 1 in 24.9, the jackpot odds are 1 in 292.2 million. No jackpot winner emerged from the latest draw, but four tickets that matched all five white balls each earned $1 million; those tickets were sold in Arizona, Florida, Michigan and New York. A separate ticket in Texas that also included the Power Play option doubled the prize to $2 million.
Monday’s drawing will be the 43rd consecutive draw in the current jackpot streak. The most recent jackpot win occurred on May 2, when two tickets in Florida and Texas split a $20 million prize. Winners may elect a lump-sum cash payment or an annuitized prize paid over 30 years, both before taxes.
Powerball tickets are available in 45 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom, with drawings held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
