Trump claims strong poll results as recent surveys show low approval ratings
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that his poll numbers are "great," while recent New York Times, AP/Norco and CNN polls place his approval in the low-30s percent range.
President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social account on Saturday that his poll numbers are "great," without indicating which survey he was referencing. Recent polling aggregates show his approval rating well below 40 percent. The New York Times' average puts Trump's overall approval at 38 percent with a 59 percent disapproval rating, while an Associated Press/Norco poll from late July recorded a 33 percent approval level. A CNN poll released in late July reported a 34 percent approval rating, matching the low point reached during his first term after the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack. Historical comparisons note that former presidents have typically held higher approval levels at similar points in their second terms; for example, Joe Biden had a 37 percent rating in 2022, George W. Bush recorded 37 percent in 2006, and Barack Obama maintained 44 percent during his second term, according to Pew Research and Gallup data.
"Great Poll Numbers. Thank You!!! President DJT," Trump wrote in his post.
Analysts point to a decline in Trump's ratings since February, coinciding with heightened tensions in the Middle East.
