Powerball jackpot climbs to $905 million after Saturday draw goes unclaimed
The Powerball jackpot increased to an estimated $905 million after no ticket matched all numbers in Saturday's drawing, with several $1-million prizes awarded.
The Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $905 million after the Saturday night drawing produced no jackpot winner. The winning numbers were 5, 9, 35, 54, 63 and Powerball 7, with a Power Play multiplier of 3.
A ticket sold in Texas that matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option earned a $2 million prize, while four other tickets each received $1 million for matching the five white numbers; those tickets were sold in Arizona, Florida, Michigan and New York.
The next drawing, scheduled for Monday, will offer the new $905 million jackpot. No grand-prize winner has been recorded for more than three months, allowing the prize pool to grow. The most recent jackpot win occurred on May 2, when two players in Florida and Texas split a $20 million prize.
A Multi-State Lottery Association spokesperson told CNN that five Powerball jackpots have been won in seven states this year, and that continued rollovers tend to increase player interest and accelerate jackpot growth.
Powerball tickets became available in the United Kingdom last month through a partnership between the Multi-State Lottery Association and Allwyn UK, the operator of the UK National Lottery. The spokesperson said the addition of a new market can boost ticket sales and potentially speed jackpot growth, though it is too early to assess the overall impact.
Powerball is currently offered in 45 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, in addition to the United Kingdom. The all-time record jackpot exceeds $2 billion, won in 2022. This year’s notable jackpots include $250.8 million in Arkansas and $230.8 million in Delaware. Winners may choose a lump-sum payment or an annuitized option paid over 30 installments; the cash value of Saturday’s $856 million jackpot was about $371 million.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are roughly 1 in 292.2 million, with better odds for smaller prizes. Drawings are held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.
