Quillan Salkilld defeats Mateusz Gamrot by first-round submission at UFC Vegas 120
Australian lightweight Quillan Salkilld earned a rear-naked choke victory over veteran Mateusz Gamrot in the first round, extending his winning streak to 13 fights.
Quillan Salkilld secured a first-round rear-naked choke against Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Vegas 120, finishing the bout at 4:25 of round one. The win marks Salkilld's 13th consecutive victory and his sixth since joining the UFC, and it is expected to move him into the division's top-10 rankings.
"I just proved I'm the real deal," Salkilld said in his post-fight interview.
"That's just how I fight. I don't care who you are, I'm going to take it to you in every area and not stay on the back foot," he added.
When asked about his next opponent, Salkilld indicated he is looking for a challenger ranked within the top five of the lightweight division. The promotion may consider matching the 26-year-old Australian with a higher-ranked foe given his increasingly well-rounded performance.
The event's main card also featured Carlos Diego Ferreira defeating Billy Quarantillo by unanimous decision, Yadier del Valle knocking out Darren Elkins in 35 seconds, Alexia Thainara beating Amanda Lemos on the judges' scorecards, and Ty Miller earning a third-round TKO over Billy Ray Goff. Preliminary bouts saw victories for Steven Asplund, Diyar Nurgozhay, José Luiz, Manoel Sousa, Miles Johns, Juliana Miller, and Carol Foro.
