Nearly 100 Rare Nintendo Cartridges Unearthed in Wisconsin Storage Box

Resumen

A storage box in Waukesha, Wisconsin, contained close to 100 Nintendo cartridges, including an undocumented version of Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt, some of which have received top preservation grades and are slated for auction.

A storage box discovered in Waukesha, Wisconsin, was found to hold almost 100 Nintendo Entertainment System cartridges, among them an undocumented variant of "Super Mario Bros." and "Duck Hunt." The box’s seller claimed the cartridges had been intended for a metal-recovery service but were never melted down.

According to Jason Ganos of Nintendo Wire, the cartridges were printed roughly two years after the last known production run, and they feature distinct back stickers, screws, manuals, and motherboard designs. Ganos said the find represents a highly documented example of video-game preservation, noting that the specific cartridges have not been seen before.

Several of the games are in pristine condition and have earned a PSA 10 grade, the highest rating for NES titles. Three of the cartridges are scheduled for auction later this month, with expectations that they could command multi-million-dollar prices.
