Salkilld defeats Gamrot by first-round submission at UFC Fight Night

Resumen

Quillan Salkilld submitted Mateusz Gamrot with a rear-naked choke in the opening round of his UFC main-event debut, marking his fourth consecutive first-round finish.

Quillan Salkilld earned a first-round victory at UFC Fight Night on Saturday, submitting Mateusz Gamrot via rear-naked choke at 4:25 of the opening round. The 26-year-old lightweight, fighting out of Perth, Australia, recorded his fourth straight first-round finish and improved his record to 13-1.

Gamrot, the UFC’s No. 8-ranked lightweight and a veteran with a 9-5 UFC record, was taken down early as Salkilld mixed leg kicks and jabs before securing his opponent’s back and working through a brief leg-lock attempt. The finish came after a level change and takedown in the center of the Octagon.

"I just proved I'm the real deal," Salkilld said after the fight. "That's just how I fight. I don't give a ... who you are. I'm going to take it to you. I'm not going to be fighting on my back foot, allow him to punch and wrestle. I'm going to use all of the weapons in my arsenal and finish you."

Salkilld, who has been undefeated since signing a UFC contract on the Contender Series in September 2024, continues his rapid ascent in the lightweight division.
