Jahmyr Gibbs signs three-year contract extension with Detroit Lions
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs completed a three-year, $67.5 million extension with the Lions and returned to practice after a brief period of individual work.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs signed a three-year contract extension worth $67.5 million, finalizing the deal later on Thursday after he reported to his first training-camp practice of the season. Gibbs participated in limited individual drills on Friday but expressed relief at being back on the field with his teammates and coaches. > "This process has been extremely stressful," Gibbs said on the team’s website. "I just wanted to play ball. I missed being out there with my teammates and my coaches and it’s just fun being out there now with my pads. It feels a lot better." The Lions indicated they will increase Gibbs’s workload gradually to avoid further absences, given the financial commitment of his new contract.
