Perez Hilton's family asks media to respect privacy after his mental health crisis

摘要

Perez Hilton's relatives said his children were home during his recent self-harm incident and requested that photographers and the public stay away while the family recovers.

Perez Hilton's family disclosed that his three children, niece and sister were inside the home when the blogger began a severe mental-health episode that was livestreamed on TikTok. The family said they fled the residence to protect the children from further trauma.

Miami police responded after the video, which showed Hilton harming himself with a box cutter and a knife, prompted numerous emergency calls. Officers secured the property and, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Hilton was recovered around 9 p.m. and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

In a statement posted on Hilton's website, the family said their priority is helping the children and niece heal and return to a sense of normalcy. > "For the children’s safety, privacy, and well-being, we respectfully ask members of the media, paparazzi, content creators, and the public to leave the area surrounding the family’s home and not return," the statement read.

The family added that, while they have received limited medical information, they have confirmed that Hilton is able to communicate, which they said offers some hope.

Earlier in the day, conservative commentator Sean Hannity aired a podcast segment in which Hilton expressed regret for past attacks on celebrities and described his past behavior as driven by a need for attention. He said he has apologized to several individuals, including Britney Spears, Khloé Kardashian and Neil Patrick Harris, and claimed to have changed his approach.

Hilton, who was hospitalized for severe sepsis in March, has recently spoken about a religious conversion and launched a faith-based merchandise line.
