Take-Two CEO Confident in GTA 6 Release Date Amidst Development Focus

Summary

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick expresses strong confidence in the May 2026 release of Grand Theft Auto VI, emphasizing Rockstar Games' commitment to perfection.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has expressed strong confidence in the scheduled May 26, 2026, release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6). In a recent interview with CNBC, Zelnick stated, "My level of conviction is very, very high, obviously."

Zelnick emphasized Rockstar Games' dedication to exceeding expectations, noting that the studio aims to create experiences "no one has ever seen before." He acknowledged the inherent tension between meeting release schedules and achieving perfection but affirmed that the company "errs on the side of perfection."

The decision to delay GTA 6 from its original Fall 2025 release to May 2026 was made to allow additional time for refinement. Zelnick described the delay as a "worthy investment" to ensure the game meets Rockstar's high standards.

In addition to GTA 6, Rockstar Games is reportedly working on other projects, including remasters of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption II, as well as collaborations on Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC release expected at a later date. The game will return players to Vice City, featuring dual protagonists in a modern-day setting.
