Red Sox Complete Three Trades Ahead of Deadline, Adding Rutschman, Miller and White

Resumen

Boston finalized three deals on Monday, acquiring catcher Adley Rutschman, left-hander Erik Miller and outfielder Eli White while sending prospects and cash to the Orioles, Giants and Braves.

Boston completed three transactions before the trade deadline on Monday. The club sent catcher Adley Rutschman, catcher Jake Rogers and cash to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for right-handers Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, outfielder Enddy Azocar, catcher Carlos Narváez and a player to be named later. In a separate deal, the Red Sox traded left-hander Erik Miller to the San Francisco Giants for infielder Marcelo Mayer. The third trade sent outfielder Eli White to the Atlanta Braves for right-hander Tyler Uberstine.

Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said the organization’s focus is on improving the major-league roster rather than simply “winning” trades. The acquisitions add depth to Boston’s catching, pitching and outfield options, complementing existing players such as Curtis Mead, Willson Contreras and Trevor Story. Analysts note that the moves could position the team for a stronger postseason run if key players remain healthy.

"Our goal is to make our major-league team better," Breslow said, referencing the strategy behind the recent deals.

The new roster configuration includes Rutschman as the primary catcher, Miller bolstering the left-handed pitching staff, and White providing additional outfield flexibility. While the long-term impact of the trades remains uncertain, the Red Sox appear to be preparing for a competitive push in the American League.
