Police detained a 38-year-old man at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes after finding loaded weapons and ammunition, saying no credible public threat has been identified.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies arrested 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes on Sunday after discovering a loaded pistol, a 16-round magazine and additional ammunition in his possession. Detectives said Taele had been photographing and filming the course while security preparations were under way for President Donald Trump's scheduled appearance at a Republican fundraising dinner on Tuesday.

"We found a loaded pistol with a round chambered, a second loaded magazine in his vehicle, and a 16-round magazine in his pocket," the sheriff's department said.

Taele, who was already under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department for a separate robbery case, had his Downey home searched by detectives working with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force. The search yielded an illegally modified rifle, a second pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, bulk ammunition, radio-signal devices and notebooks containing statements described as concerning.

Authorities indicated that no credible threat to the public has been identified. Taele is being held without bail while prosecutors consider charges. The incident occurs as President Trump prepares for a campaign swing through California and Nevada ahead of the November midterm elections.
