Buc-ee's files trademark lawsuit against Beaver's Mini Mart in Ohio

Ամփոփում

Buc-ee's has sued Beaver's Mini Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio, alleging the small store's beaver logo and color scheme infringe on its long-standing trademarks.

Buc-ee's, the Texas-based convenience-store chain, filed a federal lawsuit in late July against Beaver's Mini Mart, a small retailer in Beavercreek, Ohio. The complaint alleges that the mini-mart’s cartoon beaver logo and red color scheme closely resemble Buc-ee’s registered trademarks, potentially causing consumer confusion about an affiliation with the larger chain.

According to the filing, Buc-ee’s has used the beaver mascot and associated branding for more than four decades and holds multiple federal trademark registrations. The suit claims the Beaver's Mini Mart adopted the similar marks after Buc-ee’s had established its rights, without permission.

The legal action has drawn local attention, with some community members organizing cash-collection efforts to aid the mini-mart. Nearby businesses, including a local burrito chain, issued statements of support, though in a humorous tone.

Buc-ee’s previously opened its first Ohio location in Huber Heights earlier this year, attracting significant customer interest. The chain has a history of pursuing trademark disputes, including a prior case involving another Ohio retailer.
