Ամփոփում

Health officials in Douglas County report 71 confirmed Cyclospora infections, attributing the increase to a national outbreak tied to contaminated iceberg lettuce.

The Douglas County Health Department said the number of confirmed Cyclospora cases in the Nebraska county has climbed to 71, up from 45 the previous week. The department’s investigation points to the same national outbreak that health officials have linked to contaminated iceberg lettuce.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recorded more than 18,000 domestic cyclosporiasis cases this season, with 6,707 confirmed and roughly 11,500 pending further testing. Earlier this week, two deaths were reported in Michigan, marking the first known fatalities associated with the multi-state outbreak.

Residents can monitor the evolving situation through the health department’s online dashboard.
