Interim police chief Andre Sayles briefed investigators on the ongoing investigation of the Bite of Seattle mass shooting, where seven were wounded and three killed, and said updates will be shared with the public.

Seattle's interim police chief Andre Sayles met with investigators on Monday afternoon for an update on the investigation of the mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival in Seattle Center. The incident left seven people shot and three dead, and a third suspect remains at large.

Forensic analysis has shown that at least four firearms were discharged; police have recovered three guns, including an illegal, untraceable ghost gun. Officials have not yet identified the shooter responsible for the two fatalities, and it is unclear whether the remaining weapon has been located.

During a brief interview outside the police headquarters, Sayles said, "> We are working on it, we’re doing some good work. I’m actually going to a meeting right now with our investigative team." He added that once more information is obtained, "once I get some information from them, we will for sure let the community know."

The shooting occurred eight days ago, and police took five hours to release initial details. City leaders have pledged a thorough and transparent investigation while the search for a permanent police chief continues. Former chief Shon Barnes resigned shortly after the attack amid criticism of his response and frequent absences. Sayles, who lives outside Seattle city limits and maintains a second residence near the Illinois-Wisconsin border, said he plans to make the Seattle area his primary home.
