United Cajun Navy releases report on Nolan Wells death

Résumé

The United Cajun Navy has published its investigative report on the disappearance and death of Nolan Wells, detailing boat movements and witness accounts from Horn Island on July 4.

The United Cajun Navy has issued a full investigative report concerning the death of Nolan Wells, who disappeared while on Horn Island, Mississippi, and was later found deceased on July 6. The report includes a photograph showing three vessels—identified as Boat #3, the Palm Beach and the Triton—anchored side-by-side on the Fourth of July. According to the document, the Triton began taking on water and left the island at 4:31 p.m., after Wells declined an invitation to board.

Witnesses reported that a woman named Katelynn Brochard photographed the anchored boats and noted that Wells was not visible when her group departed the island at 7:30 p.m. The last independently verified sighting of Wells occurred between 3:23 p.m. and 4:27 p.m. An independent autopsy commissioned by his family listed the cause and manner of death as "undetermined," while a separate autopsy performed by Mississippi officials remains unreleased.

"We begged him to board our vessel to leave the island around 4:30 p.m.," said Warren Hudson, Wells's close friend. The report highlights gaps in the timeline of Wells's whereabouts during the afternoon hours on the day of his disappearance.
