Jaguars' Day 5 camp sees standout plays from Brian Thomas Jr., Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Anton Harrison
On the fifth day of Jacksonville Jaguars training camp, wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. made a key deep catch, veteran running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. delivered a strong run, and offensive tackle Anton Harrison impressed in one-on-one drills.
Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jaguars' fifth day of training camp featured several notable performances as the team moved to full pads for the first time. Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. connected on a deep pass from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, beating defender Montaric Brown for a significant gain down the sideline. The play marked the first successful deep-ball connection between the two in camp drills.
Running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. received increased carries during live-contact drills, delivering a hard-hitting run that broke a tackle by safety Caleb Ransaw and earned positive remarks from coaches. The Jaguars have highlighted his ability to gain tough yards up the middle.
Offensive tackle Anton Harrison stood out in one-on-one matchups against opposing pass rushers, consistently holding his own and showing strong pass-protection technique. His performance has prompted speculation about his potential role on the line.
The session also revealed a challenge in the passing game, as quarterback Trevor Lawrence missed two deep throws intended for receiver Parker Washington, resulting in incompletions despite Washington getting behind the defense. Coaches noted the need to improve the quarterback-receiver connection, especially in wet conditions.
Additional observations included pass-rush pressure from Ruke Orhorhoro, a tackle for loss by Ventrell Miller, and a blocking mismatch for Wyatt Milum against interior defender Travon Walker.
