Lenovo Googlebook 15 leak shows Android desktop OS and dedicated Gemini key

Summary

Press renders of the upcoming Lenovo Googlebook 15 reveal a 15-inch display, Android-based desktop interface and a hardware Gemini key, with an expected announcement at IFA in September.

Press images of the forthcoming Lenovo Googlebook 15 have been leaked, offering the first detailed view of the device’s hardware and software. The laptop features a 15-inch screen with slim bezels, a top camera notch that includes a physical privacy shutter, and a textured metal underside. Connectivity options include a full-size HDMI port, two USB-C ports, a USB-A port, an SD card reader and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Upward-firing speakers branded with Dolby Atmos and side-firing cutouts are also visible.

A notable hardware addition is a dedicated Gemini key, marked with a stylized “G,” positioned between the Fn and Alt keys and replacing the traditional Windows key. The Caps Lock key incorporates a launcher toggle from earlier Chromebook designs, and the function row provides shortcuts for OS and accessibility features across 14 keys.

The leaked renders also display the device’s software, dubbed “Aluminium OS,” which runs a unified Android desktop environment. The interface includes a smartphone-style status bar showing time, battery, Wi-Fi and Gemini indicators, as well as a taskbar with core Google services and apps such as Canva and Adobe Premiere Pro. The presence of Premiere Pro suggests the laptop is aimed at professional workloads.

No technical specifications were disclosed in the leak. Analysts expect Lenovo to formally unveil the Googlebook 15 at the IFA trade show in September, alongside similar models from other manufacturers.
