Apple faces supply shortage of MacBook Air amid price hike

Resumen

Apple's MacBook Air is experiencing a two- to six-week delivery delay in the United States after a June price increase, as limited shipments and a memory-chip shortage constrain inventory.

Apple's MacBook Air is currently subject to a two- to six-week delivery window on the company's online store in the United States, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reported. He said retail sources indicated that Apple is having difficulty keeping the laptop in stock and that recent shipments are more limited than the company has seen before.

The shortage is linked to a broader memory-chip shortage driven by heightened demand for AI-focused data-center servers, which has pushed up prices for RAM and SSD components used across Apple’s product line, including the Mac Studio and Mac mini. Configurations with larger RAM capacities are experiencing the longest delays.

In June, Apple raised the starting price of the MacBook Air in the U.S. from $1,099 to $1,299 as part of a price increase affecting 14 products. Despite the higher price, demand appears to outpace supply.
