The New Orleans Saints placed 24-year-old wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk on the reserve/retired list after a single season with the New England Patriots and a brief stint in New Orleans.

The New Orleans Saints announced Sunday that wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk has been placed on the reserve/retired list, effectively ending his NFL career at age 24. Polk was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2024 draft and was expected to develop alongside fellow rookie quarterback Drake Maye. During his rookie season with the Patriots, he recorded 12 receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns, appearing on roughly 45% of offensive snaps before his usage declined later in the year. A shoulder injury sustained during the Patriots' 2025 training camp required season-ending treatment, and the team subsequently traded Polk and a 2028 seventh-round pick to the Saints for a 2027 sixth-round selection. After joining New Orleans, Polk decided to retire rather than continue his rehabilitation and competition for a roster spot. The Saints' receiving group now includes recent draft additions Jordyn Tyson, Bryce Lance and Barion Brown, as well as veterans Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele and Mason Tipson, who will support quarterback Tyler Shough moving forward.
