Jadeveon Clowney Returns to Texans After Contract Agreement

Résumé

Jadeveon Clowney has signed a contract to return to the Houston Texans, the team that drafted him first overall in 2014, after a stint with several other NFL teams.

Jadeveon Clowney is set to rejoin the Houston Texans, confirming a contract agreement with the team that selected him first overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. In a statement to the Houston Chronicle, Clowney expressed his growth and understanding of the game since his last season with the Texans in 2018, stating, "I feel like I can help the younger guys. I've learned how to lead and what it takes to get to a Super Bowl. I feel like I can help this team."

The 33-year-old pass rusher had recently visited the Cleveland Browns before finalizing his return to Houston. Clowney noted that he received multiple offers from interested teams. The Texans' defense, already featuring standout pass rushers Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, will now include Clowney, who led the Dallas Cowboys with 8.5 sacks last season.

During his initial five seasons with the Texans, Clowney earned three Pro Bowl selections and a second-team All-Pro nod. After being franchise-tagged in 2019, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. Since then, he has played for several teams, including the Titans, Browns, Ravens, Panthers, and Cowboys. Last season, Clowney recorded 41 tackles and a team-high 12 tackles for loss over 13 games, showcasing his ability to contribute significantly on defense.
