Senator Moreno urges Rep. Max Miller to step down amid domestic abuse allegations

सारांश

Sen. Bernie Moreno called on Rep. Max Miller to leave Congress and seek professional help as the Ohio lawmaker faces renewed scrutiny over a custody dispute and accusations of domestic abuse.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno said his former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller, should not remain in the House of Representatives and needs professional assistance. Moreno posted on X, stating that Miller "fails basic standards of character required to hold elected office" and that he is a danger to Moreno’s daughter and granddaughter.

Miller, who has denied the abuse allegations, announced he will stay in the race for re-election, which has a filing deadline on Wednesday. He told supporters he intends to win in November.

The dispute stems from a long-running custody battle between Miller and his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. She has accused Miller of scalding, hitting and threatening her during their marriage and of being involved in an injury to their two-year-old daughter. Miller has refuted those claims and released court documents related to the case.

Emily Moreno’s spokesperson, Stefan Mychajliw, described Miller’s recent video defense as "shameful" and said the family will seek resolution through the courts.

Democratic challenger Brian Poindexter said anyone facing such accusations should not serve in Congress, while several Ohio Republicans are reportedly being considered as potential replacements if Miller withdraws. The White House did not comment.
