Powerball jackpot climbs to $748 million as no tickets win Saturday drawing
The Powerball jackpot rose to $748 million after Saturday’s draw produced no jackpot winner, while six players each secured at least $1 million in smaller prizes.
The Powerball jackpot increased to $748 million after Saturday night’s drawing failed to produce a winning ticket for the top prize. The next drawing is set for Monday at 10:59 p.m. EDT and will be streamed on the Powerball website and its YouTube channel.
The odds of hitting the jackpot remain 1 in 292.2 million, requiring a match of all five white balls (numbered 1-69) and the red Powerball (1-26). Although the $719 million jackpot went unclaimed, six players won seven-figure prizes. Three winners in California, one in Maryland, and one in Texas each received the standard $1 million prize for matching all five white balls. A sixth winner in Virginia added the Power Play option for an extra dollar, doubling the prize to $2 million.
"The odds of winning Powerball’s second-biggest prize are about one in 11.6 million," the lottery’s information page notes.
Winners will still face federal and state taxes, which will reduce the net amount they receive.
