Man killed in Chino Hills kidnapping identified as husband and father of three

Résumé

Shukur Aikeba, 60, was shot and killed during a kidnapping attempt by his business partner in Chino Hills, prompting a police shootout that also left the suspect dead.

Shukur Aikeba, a 60-year-old resident of Chino Hills, was fatally shot after being abducted by his business associate on Wednesday night. The incident occurred after a power outage at Aikeba's home prompted him to check an electrical panel, at which point he was shot and forced into the trunk of a Nissan Altima.

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of gunfire and a person shouting for help. They pursued the vehicle, which stopped on Wandering Ridge Drive. Surveillance footage showed a passenger exiting the car with his hands raised, while the driver opened the trunk and fired at Aikeba before deputies opened fire. Both Aikeba and the driver, identified as 67-year-old Zhengfeng Bo, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators disclosed that Bo and Aikeba were partners in at least two limited liability companies involved in ongoing lawsuits, including a dispute over a $20 million Pasadena apartment complex. Bo's attorney said Aikeba acted as a "middleman" who introduced Bo to the former managers of the property. A second passenger, 66-year-old Jianquan Bo, was arrested and charged; the attorney described him as a relative of Zhengfeng.

A GoFundMe page created for the family displayed photos of Aikeba with his wife and three daughters, including an image of him hugging a daughter at her graduation, underscoring his role as the family's primary provider.
