Uros Medic knocks out Daniel Rodriguez in 30 seconds at UFC Belgrade

Resumen

Uros Medic defeated Daniel Rodriguez by knockout in 30 seconds during the main event of UFC’s inaugural event in Serbia, which featured a record ten first-round finishes.

Local fighter Uros Medic earned a 30-second knockout over Daniel Rodriguez in the main event of UFC’s first card in Serbia on Saturday. After a front kick to gauge distance, Medic landed a counter left hook, followed by a two-punch combination and a knee that dropped Rodriguez. The referee stopped the bout once the American could no longer defend himself intelligently.

The rapid finish contributed to a historic night in Belgrade, where the promotion recorded ten first-round stoppages, the most in its history, and five victories by Serbian competitors. In the co-main event, Navajo Stirling knocked out former light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in the opening round.

Other notable results included Aleksandar Rakic winning a unanimous decision over Marcin Tybura, Robert Valentin submitting Dusko Todorovic, and Gilbert Urbina stopping Vlastislav Cepo in 61 seconds. The event also featured several early finishes across weight classes, such as Noah Gugnon’s rear-naked choke in 81 seconds and Michael Oliveira’s knockout of Oban Elliott.

After his victory, Medic said he wanted a fight with former welterweight champion Leon Edwards.

"I’d love to step up and test myself against Leon Edwards," Medic said in the post-fight interview.

The card marked a successful debut for the UFC in Serbia, showcasing a mix of established veterans and rising prospects.
