Uros Medic scores 30-second TKO as UFC Fight Night sets first-round finish record in Serbia

Résumé

Uros Medic defeated Daniel Rodriguez by TKO in 30 seconds at UFC Fight Night in Belgrade, marking the event's record of ten first-round finishes.

UFC Fight Night in Belgrade saw a record ten of its 14 bouts end in the first round, highlighted by Serbian welterweight Uros Medic's 30-second technical knockout of Daniel Rodriguez in the main event. Medic, who entered the UFC in 2021, secured the win with a straight left followed by a right uppercut and a knee, prompting Rodriguez to cover up on the canvas.

The victory is likely to move Medic into the UFC welterweight rankings for the first time. He has now finished six UFC opponents inside the first round and has won his last four fights by knockout.

Rodriguez, who was released from a Mexican prison earlier this year after serving an eight-month sentence for drug possession, was unable to recover from the early onslaught.

"I'm gonna cook the rest of this division," Medic said after the fight, adding that he aims to bring a championship belt to Serbia with the support of local fans.

Medic, 33, was born in Serbia but had not visited the country for nearly a decade before the event.
