DoorDash driver sues Arizona sheriff's office for $3 million over detention during missing-person search
Carlos Palazuelos, a DoorDash driver, filed a lawsuit seeking $3 million after being detained and searched by deputies during the investigation of Savannah Guthrie's missing mother.
Carlos Palazuelos, who works as a DoorDash driver, filed a civil claim seeking $3 million in damages from the Arizona sheriff's office. Palazuelos says deputies stopped him at gunpoint, handcuffed him, and conducted a search of his vehicle and home in Rio Rico, describing the search as an "invasion" and "ransacking." He alleges the warrant was based on inaccurate information and lacked probable cause. The sheriff's office declined to comment on the allegations, citing pending litigation, but confirmed that the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie's mother, remains active and that no suspect has been cleared. Savannah Guthrie posted a new message on Instagram urging anyone with information to come forward, offering a reward and emphasizing the family's desire for closure.
"Our hearts are in ruins," the Today show co-host wrote, adding that the family remains determined to learn what happened to her. The case has drawn public attention as investigators have released redacted ransom notes in hopes of identifying the kidnapper.
