Kuwait Reports Intercepting Iranian Drones Amid Rising Regional Tensions

सारांश

Kuwaiti forces said they shot down several Iranian drones that targeted the north of the country, while U.S. officials warned of possible escalation in the Middle East.

Kuwait's military said it detected and destroyed multiple drones that entered its airspace early Saturday, claiming the attacks were launched by Iranian forces and aimed at critical infrastructure in the country's north. The spokesperson added that falling shrapnel damaged vehicles on Bubiyan Island near the Iraqi border, but no injuries were reported.

Bubiyan Island hosts several U.S. military installations, and the incident comes as Washington maintains a large presence in the region. Neither Iran nor the U.S. Central Command immediately responded to inquiries about the attacks.

President Donald Trump, speaking from Camp David on Friday, said the United States was considering additional military action against Iran. > "We’ll be hitting them very hard, and you know at some point they’re going to say, ‘We just can’t take it anymore,’" he said.

U.S. embassies in Jordan, Iraq and Israel issued alerts urging American citizens to consider leaving the area, describing the security environment as "complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation."

Iranian Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, accused Washington of "increasingly pursuing a path of widespread warmongering." The latest exchanges follow a recent breakdown of a June cease-fire agreement that had paused hostilities between the two nations.
