Slipknot guitarist Jim Root cautions against unverified reports on band member status

A source claimed DJ Sid Wilson was removed from Slipknot, but the band has not confirmed the report, and guitarist Jim Root urged fans to wait for reliable information.

A source close to Slipknot told TMZ that DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson was ejected from the band on Friday, though no reason was provided. The band and Wilson have not confirmed the claim.

Guitarist Jim Root addressed the circulating story in an Instagram Stories post, saying, "Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information." While his message did not name Wilson, the timing led observers to link the two.

Wilson, who joined Slipknot in 1998 as the ninth member, has performed on every album from the self-titled debut through 2022’s The End So Far and the recently released Look Outside Your Window. He also works under the monikers DJ Starscream, SID and Miami Vice Crack, and was previously engaged to Kelly Osbourne.

If Wilson’s departure is confirmed, only four members from the original lineup—Shawn Crahan, Corey Taylor, Jim Root and Mick Thomson—would remain active in the group.
