Amtrak urges LeBron James to consider train commute if he lives in New York while playing for the 76ers

Résumé

Amtrak posted a call for LeBron James to use its service as reports suggest he may reside in New York or New Jersey while joining the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year contract.

Amtrak posted a series of messages on Friday encouraging LeBron James to use its rail service if he chooses to live in the New York City area while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. James recently signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Sixers that includes a player option for the 2026-27 season. Reports from ESPN and The Athletic indicate that his residence has not yet been decided, with possibilities ranging from New York City to New Jersey.

"A commuter train from Manhattan to Philadelphia takes about one hour and 25 minutes, according to the Amtrak schedule," the railroad noted. The company contrasted the train’s travel time with a helicopter trip that would take roughly 45 minutes. The suggestion follows a precedent set by former Lakers coach J.J. Redick, who lived in Brooklyn while playing for the Sixers in 2017. James will need to determine his daily travel arrangements before the season begins.
